Bio
Trombonist Nick Laufer is an eclectic musician with experiences ranging across a wide array of musical styles. His enthusiasm and experience reaches from early Baroque to contemporary, from rock and jazz to Latin. Whether in a trombone quartet or as a sideman in a touring band, Nick has performed hundreds of concerts in venues around the world. He currently tours with country music superstar Toby Keith and lends his ears as a producer at recording sessions with the likes of Jeremy Wilson, Jose Sibaja, and the Aries Trombone Quartet to name a few.
Acclaimed for his lyrical style and warm, burnished tone, Nick’s playing can be heard on numerous recordings and streaming platforms, and multiple television appearances include “CBS Late Night with Stephen Colbert”, “CMT Ultimate Kickoff Party”, “The 45th Presidential Inauguration”, “CMT Awards” and “ACM Honors.”
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Nick is a graduate of the University of North Texas. In the fall of 2019, Nick joined the faculty at the Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music as the Adjunct Artist Teacher of Trombone. He is honored to be working with such an extraordinary group of students and faculty.
He currently lives in Nashville TN and when he’s not playing trombone, enjoys spending time with his wife and two french bulldogs, drinking coffee and indulging in his perfect breakfast creations. Current endorsements include S.E. Shires Co., Dansr, Inc., and Denis Wick, London.
